We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years in the automotive safety world and you know that a well-written safety case is not just paperwork, it is the difference between a chip that ships and one that sits in legal review for six months. You understand ISO 26262 not as a checklist but as a framework for making defensible engineering decisions under uncertainty.

You are comfortable translating a vague customer requirement into a Technical Safety Concept that actually works, and you can explain to a hardware team why their design choice affects ASIL classification without making it feel like a lecture. You do not wait for complete specs to start safety planning. You work with what you have, ask the right questions, and build a safety argument that holds up under scrutiny. At Synopsys, you will work on automotive IP that powers the next generation of vehicles, and the safety work you do will matter.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain ISO 26262 work products including Technical Safety Concept, FMEDA, FTA, DFMEA, DFA, Safety Plan, and Safety Case for Digital DesignWare IP
  • Collaborate with IP development teams and automotive customers to align functional safety deliverables with project timelines and ASIL requirements
  • Evaluate customer quality, functional safety, and reliability requirements, translating them into actionable engineering guidance
  • Design and implement automation scripts to streamline safety analysis workflows, including FMEDA and fault injection reporting
  • Lead quality and functional safety reviews, generating detailed reports with findings and recommendations for design improvements

The Impact You Will Have

  • Ensure Synopsys Automotive IP meets ISO 26262 compliance and achieves ASIL B, C, and D certification for safety-critical automotive applications
  • Accelerate customer time to market by delivering complete, audit-ready safety documentation that reduces integration risk
  • Drive measurable improvements in safety process efficiency through automation, reducing manual analysis time across IP families
  • Support development of differentiated automotive IP solutions that meet stringent safety demands of ADAS, autonomous driving, and electrification platforms
  • Elevate Synopsys' reputation as a trusted partner in automotive safety, strengthening customer confidence and market share

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 5+ years
  • Formal training and hands-on expertise in ISO 26262 functional safety standards, including direct experience developing safety work products for ASIL B, C, or D applications
  • Demonstrated experience with semiconductor development flows and digital design at the IP or SoC level
  • Proficiency in English for technical writing and cross-functional collaboration with global teams
  • Proven track record qualifying embedded hardware or hardware/software systems to ISO 26262 ASIL levels, including ASIL D
  • Experience with ISO 26262 Part 5, hardware description languages like Verilog or VHDL, AEC Q100, or scripting languages such as Python is a plus

Who You Are

  • You can take a 200-page customer safety requirement document and pull out the three things that actually affect your IP architecture, then explain them to a design lead in a 10-minute conversation
  • Organized and detail-oriented, you manage multiple safety deliverables across product lines without losing track of dependencies or deadlines
  • You push back constructively when a safety plan is missing critical information or a design decision creates an unmitigated safety risk
  • Comfortable working across time zones, you build trust with customers and colleagues through clear communication and follow-through

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join a high-performing, globally distributed IP team that is at the forefront of automotive safety and reliability innovation. The team collaborates closely with product development, quality assurance, and customer engineering groups to deliver world-class automotive IP solutions. Together, you will champion functional safety standards, drive continuous improvement, and support customers in deploying safe, reliable automotive products.
