DevOps Engineering, Senior Staff
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent years building infrastructure that does not just run, it scales, self-heals, and gets smarter with every incident. The difference between a platform that survives production and one that collapses under load is usually a decision you made six months ago, and you are the kind of engineer who sees that decision coming before anyone else notices the problem. You do not wait for a runbook to tell you what broke. You build systems that tell you first, fix themselves when possible, and surface the signal when human judgment is actually needed.
Azure is your primary canvas, but you are fluent enough in AWS and GCP to know when to use what and why. You think in Terraform and Kubernetes manifests, not clickops dashboards. You have written enough Python to automate the repetitive parts of your job away, and you are starting to see how AI agents can do the same for entire categories of operational toil. You know the difference between observability theater and actual reliability engineering, and you care deeply about that difference.
At Synopsys, you will architect infrastructure that powers global SaaS products used by engineering teams building the chips that run the world. The scale is real, the problems are hard, and what you build will matter.
What You'll Be Doing
- Architect and implement multi-cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code models, primarily on Azure (AKS, Azure DevOps, networking, security), with secondary support for AWS and GCP environments
- Design and deploy AI agents that automate complex DevOps workflows, from autonomous incident remediation to intelligent resource optimization and cost management
- Build and maintain container-native CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm that enable secure, seamless deployments across global multi-cloud environments
- Own the observability stack (ELK, OpenTelemetry, Rootly) and engineer self-healing capabilities that reduce MTTR and move the team from reactive to proactive operations
- Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for critical services, using metrics like MTTR and MTTA to drive blameless post-mortems and continuous reliability improvements
- Evaluate emerging CNCF technologies and AI/ML frameworks, making architectural recommendations that improve platform performance, cost efficiency, and operational maturity
- Mentor junior engineers on DevOps best practices, automation patterns, and reliability engineering principles, helping scale the team's technical capabilities and operational discipline
The Impact You Will Have
- Your infrastructure designs will directly enable faster, safer deployments for engineering teams supporting global SaaS products that power semiconductor development worldwide
- The AI-powered automation you build will reduce operational toil by orders of magnitude, freeing the team to focus on strategic work instead of repetitive incident response
- Your observability and self-healing systems will measurably improve service reliability, cutting MTTR and reducing the frequency and severity of customer-impacting incidents
- The SLI/SLO frameworks you establish will create a shared language for reliability across engineering, giving teams clear targets and accountability for uptime and performance
- Your architectural decisions on cloud strategy and tooling will shape how Synopsys scales its SaaS infrastructure over the next three to five years
- The CI/CD pipelines you modernize will accelerate release velocity while improving security posture, directly impacting product teams' ability to ship with confidence
- Your mentorship will grow the next generation of DevOps engineers at Synopsys, multiplying your impact across the organization
What You'll Need
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or SRE roles supporting large-scale cloud SaaS products in production environments
- Expert-level proficiency with Azure infrastructure, including AKS, Azure DevOps, networking, and security, with strong working knowledge of AWS and GCP
- Advanced Python skills including data structures, object-oriented programming, and design patterns, with demonstrated interest or experience applying AI/LLMs to operational automation
- Deep expertise with Docker and Kubernetes, including cluster management, troubleshooting, and Helm-based deployments at scale
- Proven mastery of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible, with experience building and maintaining complex multi-cloud environments
- Strong understanding of Linux OS internals (kernel tuning, performance profiling) and networking fundamentals (DNS, load balancers, firewalls, VPNs)
- Experience with observability tools like ELK or OpenTelemetry, ITSM platforms like ServiceNow or JIRA, and database administration (SQL/NoSQL) is a plus
Who You Are
- You can walk into a war room during a production incident, quickly isolate the root cause across a distributed system, and articulate a fix in terms both engineers and executives understand
- You have a "fix it once, automate it forever" mindset, meaning you see every manual intervention as an opportunity to build a better system, not just close a ticket
- You are comfortable being on-call and treating incidents as learning opportunities, contributing to blameless post-mortems that make the entire team stronger
- You push back when a proposed architecture will not scale or when automation is being built on top of a fragile foundation, and you do it in a way that moves the conversation forward
- You can mentor a junior engineer through their first Terraform module or Kubernetes deployment without taking over, helping them build the muscle memory to solve the next problem themselves
- You communicate complex technical tradeoffs clearly in written English, whether you are documenting a runbook, writing an incident report, or making a case for a new tool in a design review
The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join a rapidly growing Cloud development and SRE team focused on delivering state-of-the-art cloud solutions. The team is scaling to meet increasing demand and building the next generation of reliability and automation capabilities across Synopsys SaaS products.
Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
At Synopsys, we want talented people of every background to feel valued and supported to do their best work. Synopsys considers all applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, military veteran status, or disability.
