Lead Aerospace Applications Engineer - STK & OTTK
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent years working at the intersection of aerospace engineering and customer success, and you have learned that the best technical solution means nothing if it does not fit how your customer actually works. You understand orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, and radar systems well enough to speak credibly with a mission architect at an aerospace prime, and you can translate that conversation into a deployment plan that their engineering team will actually use.
You do not just demo software. You listen, map workflows, identify bottlenecks, and build solutions that solve real problems, not theoretical ones. When a customer says their trajectory optimization process is taking too long, you know which questions to ask, which tools to configure, and how to prove the value in metrics that matter to a program director.
You are comfortable leading a technical engagement from discovery through deployment, working across sales, product, and engineering teams without losing sight of what the customer needs. You mentor engineers around you because you know that growing the team's capability is how you scale impact. At Synopsys, you will work with aerospace and defence customers solving some of the hardest mission challenges in the industry, and what you build with them will matter. We are open to hire candidates working beyond Bangalore locations like Pune, Hyderabad, and Noida.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead technical engagements with aerospace and defence customers from discovery through deployment, understanding their mission workflows, engineering challenges, and business priorities, then translating those into solutions using Ansys DME software like STK and ODTK
- Work directly with customers to configure, deploy, and optimize Digital Mission Engineering solutions across their design and engineering workflows, ensuring the tools integrate into how they actually work
- Engage with Director and C-level stakeholders to articulate technical value propositions, demonstrate solution impact, and align our capabilities with their strategic initiatives
- Gather, document, and analyze metrics that prove the technical and business impact of your engagements, building the case for expanded adoption and long-term partnership
- Collaborate with product development teams to translate customer requirements and field feedback into actionable product roadmap input, ensuring future releases solve real customer problems
- Mentor junior application engineers on technical depth, customer engagement, and solution delivery, helping them grow into trusted advisors for their accounts
- Support field and digital marketing efforts by authoring technical papers, delivering conference presentations, and leading webinars on aerospace simulation and Digital Mission Engineering topics
The Impact You Will Have
- Accelerate aerospace and defence customers' adoption of Digital Mission Engineering solutions, reducing their time from concept to mission-ready systems
- Drive measurable business growth by positioning and closing complex technical opportunities within strategic accounts across the region
- Shape the future direction of Synopsys simulation products by feeding high-quality customer insights and requirements back to product teams
- Improve customer outcomes and engineering productivity by delivering solutions that fit their workflows, not just their specifications
- Strengthen the technical capability of the applications engineering team through active mentoring, knowledge sharing, and best practice development
- Expand Synopsys' presence and credibility in the aerospace and defence community through thought leadership, technical content, and customer success stories
- Enable customers to solve mission-critical challenges in satellite design, trajectory optimization, radar analysis, and complex aerospace systems that were previously out of reach
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace, Astronautical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with 10+ years (BS), 6+ years (MS), or 3+ years (PhD) of professional experience
- Hands-on experience using Ansys DME software, specifically STK and ODTK, in real customer or engineering contexts, not just training environments
- Working knowledge of multiphysics simulation tools across structural, fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, or thermal domains, and how they integrate into aerospace workflows
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming with Python, MATLAB, C#, or Java, enough to script solutions, automate workflows, and support customer integrations
- Demonstrated understanding of aerospace engineering practices and product development lifecycles, with experience building and deploying simulation-based solutions into customer engineering workflows
- Track record of delivering measurable customer outcomes and contributing to revenue growth within the aerospace and defence industry
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time for customer engagements, conferences, and team collaboration
Who You Are
- You can walk into a room with a spacecraft systems engineer and a program manager, understand both perspectives, and walk out with a plan that satisfies both without overselling or underdelivering
- You are the engineer who does not wait for perfect requirements. You ask the right questions, clarify what matters, and move forward with enough information to deliver value
- You think in workflows, not features. When a customer describes a problem, you map their process, identify where the friction is, and build a solution that fits how they actually work
- You are a natural mentor. You see a junior engineer struggling with a technical concept or customer conversation, and you take the time to help them get better at it
- You stay current. Aerospace technology moves quickly, and you make time to learn new methods, tools, and domain knowledge so you remain credible and valuable to your customers
- You are organized enough to manage multiple complex engagements across regions and time zones without dropping threads or missing commitments
The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will be part of a collaborative team focused on supporting aerospace and defence customers through advanced simulation and Digital Mission Engineering technologies. The team works closely with sales, marketing, and product organizations to drive customer success, technical excellence, and business growth.
Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
At Synopsys, we want talented people of every background to feel valued and supported to do their best work. Synopsys considers all applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, military veteran status, or disability.
