We Are:

At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self-driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high-performance silicon chips and software content. Join us to transform the future through continuous technological innovation.

You Are:

You are a highly skilled engineering professional with deep expertise in digital backend implementation, specializing in RTL-to-GDSII flows. You thrive in collaborative, project-driven environments and are energized by solving complex technical challenges. Your experience spans place-and-route, signoff timing analysis, and physical verification (PV) at the L3 level. You have a proven track record of delivering robust backend solutions for advanced digital IP, and you excel at translating design requirements into actionable engineering plans. Your hands-on experience with timing closure, DRC/LVS, and advanced EDA tools sets you apart as a subject matter expert. You are comfortable working at the intersection of technology and customer success, balancing technical excellence with clear communication and teamwork.

The ideal candidate will possess the expertise and initiative to independently drive a PVT IP from RTL through the complete backend flow to signoff, across both emerging and established technology nodes. You will demonstrate ownership of the entire implementation process, ensure robust timing and physical verification closure while adapting to the latest industry advancements. Your ability to navigate complex challenges and deliver first-time-right silicon will be a cornerstone of your impact in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Driving RTL-to-GDSII implementation for complex digital IP, ensuring signoff timing and PV closure.

• Leading backend flow development, including PnR, STA, DRC, LVS, and EMIR analysis.

• Collaborating with design, CAD, and cross-functional teams to optimize backend methodologies and resolve technical issues.

• Supporting project execution by troubleshooting timing, congestion, and physical verification challenges.

• Participating in design and flow reviews, proposing improvements, and ensuring best practices are followed.

• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers within the team.

• Documenting methodologies, flows, and lessons learned to facilitate knowledge sharing and process improvement.

• Engaging with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality backend solutions on schedule.

The Impact You Will Have:

• Enabling first-time-right silicon by ensuring robust backend implementation and signoff.

• Accelerating project schedules through efficient flow development and technical problem-solving.

• Enhancing Synopsys’ reputation as a leader in digital backend solutions by delivering measurable customer value.

• Driving innovation in backend methodologies, contributing to continuous improvement and competitive advantage.

• Facilitating knowledge transfer and raising the technical bar for the team and customers.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) with 5+ years, or Master’s degree (MS) with 3+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.

• Extensive hands-on experience with RTL-to-GDSII flows, including PnR, STA, DRC, LVS, and PV signoff.

• Deep understanding of timing analysis, constraint management, and timing closure strategies.

• Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys ICC2, PrimeTime, Calibre, Innovus).

• Strong scripting skills (Tcl, Python, Perl) for flow automation and process optimization.

• Experience supporting large, complex SoCs or IP blocks through backend implementation.

• Familiarity with version control (Perforce), issue tracking (Jira), and collaborative development environments.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Who You Are:

• An innovative thinker who enjoys exploring new backend technologies and methodologies.

• A collaborative team player who values diverse perspectives and open communication.

• Adaptable and organized, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Customer-focused, with a genuine desire to help others succeed and grow.

• Detail-oriented, analytical, and methodical in your approach to problem-solving.

• Proactive and self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

The Team You’ll Be A Part Of:

You’ll join the dynamic Design Support Group (DSG) at Synopsys—a passionate collective of engineers dedicated to delivering world-class backend solutions.
