You Are:

We are seeking diverse individuals to join our team supporting Synopsys’s infrastructure and R&D teams. You are an energetic and innovative professional with a strong understanding of Unix and Linux operating systems and a thorough understanding of computer hardware and efficient troubleshooting techniques. You have a proactive approach to learning and are always ready to think creatively and positively contribute to our ‘team first’ dynamic. With at least five years of related experience, you understand networking principles and can troubleshoot including TCP/IP. Your skills in scripting (Python and PERL preferred) and virtualization are key assets. You excel in a collaborative environment, communicating effectively with team members and tailoring technical details to audiences with varying backgrounds. You thrive in a role that involves developing, documenting, and implementing standard procedures and customer guidelines, and you are committed to ensuring compliance with information security policies.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing day-to-day and escalation support for Unix server and desktop systems at local and remote locations.
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux servers (both physical and virtualized).
  • Maintaining LDAP and DNS within our standardized environment.
  • Participating in frontline support rotation and responding to tickets.
  • Assisting in managing local datacenter operations, including physically moving servers and hardware (up to 40 lbs).
  • Collaborating with other IT teams to support hardware, software, and projects.

  • Ensuring robust and reliable Unix server and desktop systems across over 40 sites in North America.
  • Enhancing operational efficiency through effective installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux servers.
  • Maintaining the integrity and functionality of LDAP and DNS systems within a standardized environment.
  • Providing critical frontline support to quickly resolve technical issues and maintain system uptime.
  • Supporting local datacenter operations to ensure seamless hardware and server management.
  • Contributing to the development and documentation of standard procedures and customer guidelines to enhance team success.

What You’ll Need:

  • Strong understanding of Unix and Linux operating systems.
  • Thorough understanding of computer hardware and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge of networking principles and TCP/IP troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and PERL.
  • Experience with virtualization and job scheduling software (Univa Grid Engine and IBM/Platform LSF preferred).

The Team You’ll Be A Part Of:

This position will have you join a field team distributed across North America supporting over 40 sites. Our team provides day-to-day and escalation support for the Unix server and desktop systems at local and remote locations. We work collaboratively with other IT teams to support their hardware, software, and projects, and we are committed to developing, documenting, and implementing standard procedures and customer guidelines to ensure our success.
