You Are:
You are a motivated Staff Engineer with over 4+ years of hands-on optics & lighting experience in the automotive and/or aerospace & defense industries. You thrive in dynamic environments and possess excellent communication skills, including a strong command of German and English. Your technical expertise allows you to demonstrate differentiated optical simulation workflows to prospects, train new software users and support existing customers in a proactive, emphatic & professional manner. You possess business acumen to work hand in hand with our sales colleagues and provide the best technical recommendations to ensure both customer satisfaction and business outcome. You understand software product development to effectively voice our customers’ requests to shape the future of our products. You work autonomously, solving problems by proactively finding solutions & partners to help, and by developing innovative solutions such as scripts & software customization using Python or another programming language.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Demonstrating differentiated optical workflows including optical design, optimization, lighting validation & visualization, mutliphysics (thermal, structural, fluid simulations).
- Providing technical support to key customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
- Collaborating with R&D teams to drive product development.
- Creating knowledge content such as articles, videos, and training courses.
- Utilizing scripting languages such as Python for automation and optimization.

What You’ll Need:
- BS/MS/PhD in Optical/Electrical/Physics Engineering or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating knowledge of optical theory & design.
- Proficiency with optical software tools such as Speos, Zemax OpticStudio, Lumerical.
- Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers and a wide range of audiences.
- Strong understanding of the lighting development process in the automotive industry.
- Fluent in writing and speaking in German and English.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python.
- Never give-up attitude and flexibility in supporting multiple engagements across geographically diverse locations.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time.
