You have spent years deep in verification and you know the difference between a tool that works in a demo and one that holds up when a design team is three weeks from tapeout with a functional coverage gap they cannot explain. You are the engineer who walks into a room full of stressed designers, asks three clarifying questions, and finds the root cause while everyone else is still talking about symptoms.

You do not just know the tools, you know how teams actually use them under pressure, where the workflows break, and what workarounds become technical debt six months later. You have debugged enough customer environments to spot a setup issue in minutes and enough design complexity to explain a formal property failure to someone who has never written one.

You have embraced the emergence of AI in semiconductor engineering and understand both its potential and its limitations. You recognize how AI can enhance EDA workflows by accelerating debug, assisting with assertion and property generation, improving coverage analysis, surfacing insights from large verification datasets, and helping engineers navigate increasingly complex designs. More importantly, you know that AI delivers the greatest value when combined with strong engineering judgment, and you are comfortable helping customers integrate AI-driven capabilities into practical design and verification flows that improve productivity and accelerate time to results.

Mentorship comes naturally to you. You have shown junior engineers how to think through a problem, not just how to run a command. You push back on R&D when a feature does not match what customers actually need, and you do it with enough technical grounding that they listen.

At Synopsys, you will work directly with the design teams building the chips that power everything, and the tools you support will be the ones they depend on when it matters most.

What You'll Be Doing

• Serve as the primary technical resource for key customers across Sweden and the Nordic region, supporting verification workflows using Synopsys EDA tools including VCS, Verdi, and VC Formal
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in customer design environments, working directly with design and verification teams on-site and remotely
• Collaborate with Synopsys R&D teams to escalate critical customer issues, provide field feedback, and influence product roadmap based on real deployment challenges
• Mentor and develop junior applications engineers, building their technical depth and customer engagement skills
• Deliver technical presentations, training sessions, and best practice guidance to customer teams on verification methodologies and tool usage
• Act as a regional technical leader, representing customer needs internally and driving solutions that improve both product capability and customer success

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related semiconductor or electronics discipline
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in semiconductor design, ASIC development, or EDA applications engineering
• Strong foundation in digital design verification concepts, methodologies, and flows
• Based in or near Stockholm, Sweden, with opportunity to travel regularly within the Nordic region and occasionally internationally
• Proven ability to work directly with customer engineering teams, diagnose technical issues in complex environments, and drive them to resolution
• Experience with Synopsys verification tools such as VCS, Verdi, or VC Formal is a strong plus
• Solid communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

• You can walk into a customer site, assess a broken verification environment, and have a working theory within the first hour, not because you have seen that exact issue before, but because you know how to isolate variables and ask the right diagnostic questions
• Mentorship is not a checkbox for you, when a junior engineer gets stuck, you sit with them long enough to make sure they understand the why, not just the fix
• You push back when it matters, if a customer request does not make technical sense or an R&D solution misses the actual problem, you say so and you bring the data to back it up
• You are comfortable with ambiguity, customer environments are messy, requirements are incomplete, and you move forward anyway without waiting for perfect information
• You manage your own calendar, your customer commitments, and your travel logistics without needing someone to keep you on track
• You can explain a complex verification concept to a hardware engineer who has never used formal tools and make it clear enough that they can try it themselves the next day
