Our technologies span industries from aerospace and automotive to electronics and advanced manufacturing, enabling engineers to design, analyze, and optimize the products of tomorrow. Join us and help shape the future of simulation through AI, advanced algorithms, and intelligent engineering solutions.
You Are:
You are a passionate and analytical R&D engineer who thrives at the intersection of AI/ML, applied mathematics, computational geometry, 3D geometry processing, and mesh generation. You have hands-on experience applying AI/ML to transform how complex geometric and simulation models are created, processed, and discretized. With a strong foundation in engineering, applied mathematics, computational geometry, computer graphics, or related fields, you enjoy solving challenging problems and developing intelligent algorithms for shape analysis, surface reconstruction, geometry simplification, mesh generation, and mesh quality optimization. In this role, you will apply these skills to develop innovative AI/ML techniques that address challenging computational geometry and mesh generation problems for engineering simulation.
Experience with reinforcement learning, geometric deep learning, graph neural networks, or other ML techniques for augmenting, optimizing, and automating traditional geometry and meshing algorithms is highly desirable. Another area of interest is using LLMs and LVMs/VLMs to create simulation models from CAD and other engineering data while understanding analysis intent. Experience designing, training, and fine-tuning reasoning-based LLMs or vision-language models is advantageous.
Your interests and expertise will help determine your focus area, spanning AI-driven geometry processing and meshing, computational geometry, and AI-based simulation model creation. You are comfortable working in C++ and Python, and enjoy all stages of R&D, from research and algorithm development to implementation, optimization, and productization. Your strong analytical skills, creativity, curiosity, and ability to solve complex problems make you a natural fit for an innovative team pushing the boundaries of AI-driven simulation and intelligent meshing technology.
You value continuous learning, embrace new challenges, and are motivated by the opportunity to develop advanced AI, geometry, and meshing technologies that empower engineers, researchers, and designers worldwide.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Researching, designing, and implementing AI/ML-driven algorithms for 3D geometry processing and mesh generation to improve automation, robustness, and efficiency.
- Developing innovative solutions that combine AI/ML with computational geometry for shape analysis, mesh optimization, feature classification, surface reconstruction, and model simplification.
- Exploring reinforcement learning, geometric deep learning, graph neural networks, and other learning-based techniques to augment, optimize, and automate traditional geometry and meshing algorithms.
- Collaborating closely with the meshing software development team to translate research ideas and algorithms into scalable, production-quality simulation capabilities.
- Writing efficient and maintainable Python and C/C++ code, with a focus on performance, scalability, and production deployment.
- Analyzing simulation models and discretization workflows to identify opportunities where AI/ML can automate, optimize, or simplify traditionally algorithmic processes.
- Collaborating across R&D and software teams through technical discussions, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and brainstorming to advance AI-driven geometry processing and intelligent meshing.
The Impact You Will Have:
- Accelerate the adoption of AI/ML in simulation, transforming how engineers create and prepare simulation models and making complex workflows faster, more automated, and accessible.
- Transform traditional geometry processing and meshing algorithms by applying AI/ML to automate, optimize, and improve the robustness of simulation model creation.
- Enable engineers and researchers to solve complex geometric and numerical problems more efficiently through intelligent, high-performance algorithms.
- Advance the state of the art in computational geometry, mesh generation, and AI-driven simulation technology by developing innovative algorithms and approaches.
- Deliver robust and scalable technologies that can process increasingly complex engineering models and support high-performance simulation workflows.
- Contribute to Synopsys' leadership in AI-powered simulation and design automation, developing technologies that are used by engineers and researchers worldwide.
What You’ll Need:
- MSc in Applied Mathematics, Computational Geometry, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Graphics or a related field with 3+ years; or PhD with 1+ year of experience. Advanced research experience, including postdoctoral experience, is a plus.
- Strong expertise in AI/ML applied to 3D geometry processing, computational geometry, or mesh generation, with experience developing and applying learning-based approaches to engineering or scientific problems.
- Solid understanding of geometry processing, mesh generation, numerical methods, and applied mathematics, with the ability to develop and reason complex algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python and exposure to C++, with experience developing efficient, maintainable, production-quality software.
- Experience with deep learning, reinforcement learning, geometric deep learning, graph neural networks, or other AI/ML techniques is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to research, develop, and implement solutions to complex and ambiguous technical problems.
Who You Are:
- Excellent communicator who can clearly explain complex mathematical, technical, and AI/ML concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative team player who enjoys working across disciplines and geographies with researchers, engineers, and software developers.
- Innovative and curious thinker who challenges conventional approaches, explores new technologies, and is motivated to push the boundaries of AI-driven geometry processing and simulation.
- Self-motivated problem solver who embraces challenging and ambiguous problems, learns quickly, and adapts to new technologies and domains.
- Strong analytical thinker with attention to detail and a passion for turning ideas and research into practical, high-quality solutions.
The Team You’ll Be A Part Of:
You will join the Meshing Development Unit (MDU), a dynamic team of engineers and researchers working at the intersection of AI/ML, computational geometry, geometry processing, and mesh generation to advance the next generation of simulation technology. The team develops innovative algorithms and software that combine traditional geometry and meshing techniques with modern AI/ML approaches to automate and transform simulation model creation. You’ll work closely with experts across multiple disciplines and geographies, collaborating on challenging problems from research and algorithm development to high-performance, production-quality software.
