We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent your academic and early professional years working with computational fluid dynamics, and you understand that great CFD software is not just about solving the equations correctly but about delivering results that engineers can trust and use.

You are the kind of engineer who does not just run test cases. You think about how the software behaves across different physics models, mesh types, and solver settings, and you care whether it works the way customers expect it to.

You are comfortable writing Python scripts to automate testing workflows, setting up regression environments, and working across Windows and Linux platforms. Learning new tools and workflows does not slow you down. Whether it is understanding a new feature in Fluent, debugging why a test failed on a particular configuration, or setting up performance benchmarks on high-performance computing systems, you figure it out.

Quality matters to you in a practical way. When a test fails, you investigate. When a new feature ships, you want to know it works under the conditions customers will actually encounter. At Synopsys, you will join a team that verifies the Fluent CFD software used by engineers solving real problems in aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Write, modify, and maintain test cases and test scripts that verify CFD solver functionality, performance, and stability across a wide range of physics models and configurations
  • Execute functional, regression, and performance testing in both manual and automated environments using Python scripting and internal test frameworks
  • Investigate test failures by analyzing simulation results, comparing against expected behavior, and working with developers to isolate root causes
  • Create and update test plans that align with product release cycles, contribute to defect tracking, and help define testing metrics that reflect product quality
  • Work across Windows and Linux platforms, including high-performance computing environments, to ensure test coverage reflects real customer workflows
  • Collaborate with CFD developers, product managers, and technical support engineers to understand new features, prioritize test coverage, and communicate quality risks

The Impact You Will Have

  • Ensure that every Fluent release meets the accuracy and reliability standards that customers depend on for critical engineering decisions
  • Catch solver regressions, performance degradations, and usability issues before they reach production, reducing customer-reported defects and support escalations
  • Build test coverage that scales with product complexity, enabling faster release cycles without sacrificing quality
  • Contribute to the long-term maintainability of the verification suite by writing clear, reusable test scripts and documenting test methodologies
  • Help shape the testing strategy for new CFD features by providing feedback grounded in real simulation scenarios and customer use cases
  • Support a culture of quality across the Fluids Business Unit where verification is seen as a partner in product development, not a gatekeeper

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with 2 years of experience, or a Master's degree with no experience
  • Working knowledge of computational fluid dynamics, including numerical methods, solver algorithms, and the physics behind fluid flow simulations
  • Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English to collaborate with Synopsys' global team and work with software products and development tools written entirely in English
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python for test automation, data analysis, or workflow orchestration
  • Comfort working in both Windows and Linux environments, including command-line tools and remote computing systems
  • Familiarity with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, CFX, or Star-CCM+ is a strong plus, especially hands-on experience using these tools to solve engineering problems
  • Experience in a commercial software testing or verification environment is a plus, particularly in CAE or simulation domains

Who You Are

  • You approach your work with a thorough, detail-oriented mindset because you know that a single overlooked edge case can mean a failed simulation for a customer downstream
  • You can explain a CFD test failure to a developer in terms they can act on, not just "it didn't match," but "the pressure gradient diverged at this boundary condition under this turbulence model"
  • You take initiative without waiting for perfect instructions. If a test case is missing coverage for a new feature, you write it. If a script is breaking on Linux, you debug it
  • You learn quickly and apply what you learn. Six months in, you should be contributing to regression testing, debugging issues with guidance, and seen as a dependable team member
  • You respond well to feedback and direction, treating it as a way to improve your craft rather than a critique of your work
  • You thrive in a distributed team environment where communication is clear, documentation matters, and collaboration happens across time zones

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join the Fluids Business Unit verification team, a group focused on ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and quality of Synopsys' Fluent CFD software. The team works closely with CFD developers, product managers, and technical support engineers across global locations to verify simulation results, maintain test coverage, and enable faster, more stable product releases.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
