Embedded Memory Circuit Designer

We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years deep in the world of transistor-level circuit design, where the difference between a memory that performs and one that fails comes down to choices measured in millivolts and picoseconds. You understand that embedded memories are not just blocks on a floorplan, they are the workhorses of every chip, and getting them right means understanding leakage, speed, density, and yield at a level most engineers never touch.

You are comfortable sitting with a schematic, tracing through a bitcell design, and identifying why a corner case is failing without needing someone to point you there. When something breaks, you do not wait for a senior engineer to tell you what to do. You dig in, you test hypotheses, you iterate until it works.

Working with a design lead does not mean waiting for instructions. It means bringing your own ideas, challenging assumptions when the data supports it, and collaborating to land the best solution, not just the fastest one. You have learned that memory compiler work requires both precision and creativity, because every process node brings new constraints and you have to solve them in ways that have not been done before.

At Synopsys, you will work on memory IP that powers everything from AI accelerators to automotive SoCs. The problems are hard, the standards are high, and the work matters.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and develop embedded memory compilers at the transistor level, working across bitcell design, sense amplifiers, decoders, and control logic
  • Troubleshoot circuit-level issues across process corners, voltage ranges, and temperature conditions to ensure robust memory performance
  • Collaborate directly with the design lead to define circuit architectures, evaluate tradeoffs, and drive design decisions that balance performance, area, and power
  • Learn and apply advanced memory compiler techniques including timing closure, leakage optimization, and yield enhancement strategies
  • Resolve complex circuit design challenges using simulation tools like HSPICE, Spectre, or equivalent, iterating until the design meets all specifications
  • Engage with internal teams and external customers to understand memory requirements, debug issues, and deliver solutions that meet real-world product needs
  • Contribute to the development and validation of memory IP used in cutting-edge applications across AI, automotive, mobile, and data center markets

The Impact You Will Have

  • Your circuit designs will directly influence the performance, power, and area of memory IP used in chips that power AI, 5G, automotive, and IoT devices worldwide
  • The memory compilers you develop will enable Synopsys customers to build faster, more efficient SoCs across multiple process nodes and applications
  • Your troubleshooting and problem-solving will reduce time-to-market for critical memory IP releases, helping customers meet aggressive product schedules
  • The design techniques and optimizations you contribute will become part of the embedded memory IP portfolio used by leading semiconductor companies globally
  • Your collaboration with the design lead and cross-functional teams will shape the architecture and roadmap of next-generation memory compilers
  • The robustness and quality of the circuits you deliver will directly affect the yield and reliability of chips in production at scale
  • Your work will help Synopsys maintain its leadership position in embedded memory IP, a foundational technology for the Era of Smart Everything

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, VLSI Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in the same fields with relevant experience in memory compiler design and development
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing memory compilers or embedded memory circuits at the transistor level
  • Strong understanding of CMOS circuit design fundamentals including bitcell design, sense amplifiers, decoders, and memory peripherals
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation tools such as HSPICE, Spectre, or similar for transistor-level analysis and validation
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve circuit-level issues across PVT corners in memory design
  • Experience with memory compiler flows, including timing analysis, power optimization, and design-for-manufacturability considerations is a plus
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, Perl, or Tcl for automation and design productivity is a plus

Who You Are

  • You can look at a failing simulation result and form a hypothesis about what is wrong without needing someone to walk you through it
  • You bring ideas to design reviews and are comfortable defending them with data, not just opinion
  • You do not treat collaboration as waiting for direction, you ask clarifying questions, propose solutions, and move the work forward
  • You are detail-oriented enough to catch a subtle timing violation and pragmatic enough to know when good enough is actually good enough
  • You are comfortable working in a role where the problems are not always well-defined and the path forward requires both technical depth and creative problem-solving
  • You can explain a complex circuit tradeoff to a design lead or a customer engineer in a way that makes the decision clear, not more confusing

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will be part of the Embedded Memory R&D team in Noida, a group focused on producing world-class memory IP that sets the standard for performance, power, and reliability. This team works on memory compilers that are used across the industry in leading-edge process nodes and demanding applications. The work is technical, collaborative, and directly tied to the success of Synopsys customers building the next generation of chips.
