We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years building software that sits at the intersection of science and engineering, and you understand that the best code is the code that actually solves the problem a clinician or researcher is trying to answer. You know the difference between a feature that looks good in a demo and one that holds up when someone runs a 12-hour simulation on real patient data at 3am before a regulatory submission.

You are comfortable moving between C++ performance work and Python orchestration without losing sight of what matters: does this workflow actually run, does it handle failure gracefully, and can someone else maintain it six months from now? You do not need a perfect spec to get started. You talk to the domain experts, ask the right questions, sketch out the architecture, and start building.

You have worked in environments where "it works on my machine" is not good enough. You think about state management, error handling, versioning, and observability because you have seen what happens when those things are missing. At Synopsys, you will build simulation software for healthcare and life sciences that has to work under real-world conditions, and you will work with a team that takes that responsibility seriously.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design and implement product features in C++ and Python, including numerical routines, data processing pipelines, algorithms, and user-facing components for healthcare and life sciences simulation applications
  • Build orchestration systems for multi-step scientific workflows, managing project state, job execution, persistence, versioning, error handling, and performance of long-running computations
  • Translate business, clinical, and technical requirements into maintainable software features, testable user stories, acceptance criteria, and clear engineering tasks
  • Write unit, integration, and regression tests, profile performance-critical code, apply reliability patterns, improve observability, and follow secure coding practices to ensure production quality
  • Standardize and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including automated builds, tests, static analysis, packaging, release workflows, and traceable quality gates
  • Collaborate with product owners, domain experts, and software engineers throughout the product development lifecycle, contributing to architecture decisions and design reviews
  • Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, while supporting continuous improvement of development processes and engineering best practices

The Impact You Will Have

  • Enable clinicians and researchers to run complex simulations that inform real medical decisions, from device design to treatment planning
  • Deliver robust scientific workflows that handle production workloads reliably, reducing time from data to insight for engineering and clinical teams
  • Improve software quality and maintainability across the simulation platform, making it easier for the team to add features and respond to customer needs
  • Accelerate development cycles through well-architected CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices that catch issues early and deploy with confidence
  • Shape the technical direction of the simulation product through thoughtful architecture decisions and design contributions that balance performance, maintainability, and user needs
  • Build software that meets regulatory and quality standards required in medical device and life sciences environments
  • Support the growth of engineering best practices across the team, raising the bar for how scientific simulation software is built and delivered

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline with 3-6 years of software development experience
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, and Python with practical knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, debugging, and performance optimization
  • Experience developing software solutions for Healthcare, Life Sciences, Medical Devices, or other scientific and engineering domains
  • Practical familiarity with DevOps practices including Git-based workflows, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and release support
  • Experience using AI-assisted programming and testing tools to accelerate development, generate tests, review code, and maintain quality standards
  • Familiarity with modern software architecture and API development, including modular design, service interfaces, versioned APIs, dependency management, and maintainable integration patterns
  • Experience with multiphysics simulation products such as finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), fluid-structure interaction, or biomechanics is a strong plus, as is experience in medical image analysis, cloud computing, machine learning, or computational modeling

Who You Are

  • You can sit in a meeting with a biomedical engineer describing a clinical workflow and walk out with a clear picture of what needs to be built, what the edge cases are, and where the performance bottlenecks will show up
  • You write code that someone else can read six months later without needing to ask you what it does, and you care about that because you have been the person trying to debug someone else's undocumented mess
  • You know when to optimize for performance and when to optimize for clarity, and you make that call based on what the system actually needs, not what feels clever
  • You push back when a requirement is too vague or a design decision will create maintenance problems downstream, and you do it in a way that moves the conversation forward
  • You are comfortable working across time zones and collaborating with distributed teams, adjusting your schedule when needed to ensure alignment and progress
  • You treat testing, documentation, and observability as part of the work, not something you add later if there is time

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join a team developing simulation software for healthcare and life sciences, building tools that help medical device engineers, researchers, and clinicians model complex biological and physical systems. The work spans from core computational engines to workflow orchestration to user-facing features that make sophisticated simulation accessible to domain experts.
