We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You bring solid engineering fundamentals and hands-on lab experience to hardware validation work. You understand that validating a circuit means more than running a checklist. It means setting up the right test conditions, interpreting what the measurements are telling you, and working with design teams to understand why behavior deviates from expectations.

You are comfortable working with test equipment, reading schematics, and writing scripts to automate repetitive tasks. When you encounter an unexpected result, you approach it methodically. You check your setup, review the design documentation, and ask the right questions to narrow down the root cause.

You value clear documentation and structured processes because you know that validation work builds on itself. The test bench you create today becomes the baseline for the next product iteration. You communicate your findings clearly, whether you are writing a test report or explaining a measurement anomaly to a design engineer.

At Synopsys, you will work in a well-equipped lab alongside experienced engineers who design analog and digital circuits. You will have the tools and support to develop your validation expertise on products that matter.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Execute system level validation tests on hardware prototypes, following established test plans and specifications
  • Set up and operate lab instrumentation including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, bit error rate testers, and network analyzers to characterize circuit performance
  • Work with board schematics and layouts to understand test points, signal paths, and design constraints relevant to your measurements
  • Debug hardware issues by analyzing test data, consulting with design engineers, and iterating on test configurations to isolate root causes
  • Develop test automation scripts using Python, C/C++, or MATLAB to improve test efficiency and repeatability
  • Document test procedures, results, and findings in clear, structured reports that support design decisions and product release criteria
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of validation processes, test coverage, and lab infrastructure

The Impact You Will Have

  • Ensure product quality by identifying design issues and performance limitations before they reach customers
  • Provide design teams with accurate, actionable validation data that informs design iterations and tradeoff decisions
  • Build reliable test setups and automation that improve validation throughput and consistency across product releases
  • Contribute to the knowledge base and best practices that strengthen the validation capability of the entire team
  • Support on-time product releases by executing thorough validation plans and clearly communicating results and risks
  • Help maintain Synopsys standards for product performance, interoperability, and reliability in semiconductor IP and design solutions

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 2 years of relevant experience or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Hands-on experience working with electronics test and measurement equipment in a professional or academic lab setting
  • Ability to read and interpret board schematics and PCB layouts
  • Scripting or programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, or MATLAB for test automation and data analysis
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Experience with high-speed electronics, FPGA development tools, Verilog HDL, or test automation platforms such as Jenkins is a plus

Who You Are

  • You approach validation work with attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness
  • You communicate technical information clearly in both written reports and verbal discussions with cross-functional team members
  • You are self-directed and organized, able to manage your test schedule and follow through on validation tasks without constant oversight
  • You are comfortable asking questions when requirements are unclear and seeking input from more experienced engineers when needed
  • You take ownership of your test setups and results, ensuring accuracy and repeatability in your measurements
  • You are eager to learn new test techniques, tools, and methodologies as you grow in your validation engineering career

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will work with a cross functional engineering team of analog and digital designers and hardware engineers with a variety of backgrounds. Our R&D lab in Lisbon is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for high accuracy, high-speed test, and debug.
