Applications Engineering, Staff Engineer - TPT
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent years working where engineering theory meets production reality, and you know the difference between a simulation that looks good in a demo and one that actually solves the problem a customer is losing sleep over. You are the engineer who gets called when the standard answer does not work, when the workflow is more complicated than the documentation assumes, or when a customer needs someone who understands both the math and the business pressure behind the deadline.
You do not just answer tickets. You dig into the why, map the customer's actual constraints, and build solutions that fit their workflow, not yours. You have learned that the best technical answer is useless if it does not land with the person who has to use it, so you have gotten good at translating complexity into clarity without dumbing it down.
You are comfortable in front of customers, whether that is a webinar for 50 people or a design review with three skeptical engineers who have tried everything already. You ask better questions than most, and that is usually what unlocks the path forward. At Synopsys, you will work with customers solving real problems in automotive, semiconductor, and embedded systems, and what you build with them will directly shape how our tools evolve.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide deep technical support to customers using Ansys Digital Engineering software including TPT Â (Time Partition Testing) and AVX (AVxcelerate), solving complex testing and simulation problems that require domain expertise and creative problem-solving
- Own customer relationships at select strategic accounts, proactively engaging to understand their engineering workflows, design challenges, and business goals, then mapping those to Synopsys solutions
- Lead presales technical activities throughout the sales cycle, running demos, proof-of-concept projects, and technical workshops that show customers exactly how the software solves their specific use case
- Scope and deliver professional services engagements that help customers adopt and scale their use of our tools, from initial deployment through advanced workflow optimization
- Gather and translate customer requirements into actionable product feedback, working directly with product development teams to influence roadmap and validate new features against real-world use cases
- Develop reusable best practices, workflow templates, and knowledge base content that help customers and internal teams solve problems faster
- Lead webinars, training sessions, and technical presentations for diverse audiences ranging from hands-on engineers to executive stakeholders
The Impact You Will Have
- You will directly improve customer satisfaction and retention by solving the hard problems that make or break a software deployment
- Your technical solutions will enable customers to ship products faster, reduce testing cycles, and catch critical issues earlier in their development process
- You will shape the product roadmap by bringing real customer needs and pain points directly to the engineering teams building the next release
- Your presales work will unlock revenue growth by proving technical value in competitive sales cycles and expanding usage within existing accounts
- You will build a knowledge base and best practice library that scales your expertise across the global support and sales organization
- Your customer relationships will create long-term partnerships that drive software adoption across entire engineering organizations
- You will mentor and elevate the technical capability of the broader applications engineering team through shared learning and collaboration
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's or PhD preferred
- 5+ years of professional experience in automotive, semiconductor, or embedded systems engineering with hands-on exposure to testing, verification, or simulation workflows
- Deep working knowledge of Ansys TPT, AVX, or comparable commercial testing and verification software platforms
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems and communicate solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong written and spoken English, with proven ability to create technical documentation, deliver presentations, and lead customer-facing meetings
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time to customer sites, conferences, and company locations
- Experience leading multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities and delivering results on time
Who You Are
- You can walk into a customer meeting, listen to a messy problem description, and walk out with a clear plan that everyone believes in
- You know when to solve the problem the customer asked for and when to step back and solve the one they actually have
- You are comfortable saying "I don't know, but I'll find out" and then actually following through, looping in the right people and closing the loop
- You can explain a complex tradeoff to an executive in two sentences and then turn around and debug a workflow issue with a hands-on engineer without switching gears
- You do not wait for perfect information to get started, you work with what you have, fill in gaps as you go, and keep the customer moving forward
- You treat customer feedback as a gift, not a complaint, and you have a track record of turning that feedback into something the product team can actually use
