Technical Account Manager - Aero & Defense
We Are

We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent years at the intersection of defense engineering and commercial software, and you understand that the hardest part of any defense program is not just the technology, it is navigating acquisition cycles, mission priorities, and the layers of stakeholders who all need to believe in the solution before a single line of code ships. You think in program lifecycles, not product pitches. You know the difference between a technical conversation that builds trust and one that sounds like a sales deck, and you care deeply about that difference.
You are comfortable sitting in a room with systems engineers discussing MBSE workflows one day and briefing a C-level executive on technology roadmaps the next, translating between both without losing the thread. You do not wait for perfect alignment across stakeholders, you ask the right questions, map the ecosystem, and move with purpose. You have built relationships that span primes, tier suppliers, and government entities, and you know how to orchestrate resources across global teams to deliver what the customer actually needs.
At Synopsys, you will work with the Sweden defense ecosystem and help shape how mission-critical engineering gets done.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and maintain strategic relationships across Sweden's defense ecosystem, including prime contractors, tier suppliers, and government stakeholders, positioning yourself as the main technical point of contact
- Develop account-specific and ecosystem-wide technical strategies aligned with defense program requirements, acquisition phases, and customer mission priorities
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Account Manager to identify growth opportunities, plan technical activities, and coordinate resources across presales, technical support, consulting, training, and product teams globally
- Shape technical requirements early in defense program lifecycles, influencing how Synopsys solutions integrate into long-term roadmaps and procurement processes
- Lead opportunity qualification and drive technical campaigns for complex engagements, advising on market sizing and competitive positioning across all Synopsys product lines
- Review technical support activities with local support managers, ensuring quality goals are met and fostering close connections between field teams and Synopsys Development for defect resolution and enhancement requests
- Support and lead account-based marketing strategies that drive technology adoption, deployment, and proliferation campaigns, including partner solutions
The Impact You Will Have
- Expand Synopsys' footprint across the Sweden defense ecosystem by displacing competitors, adding products, increasing user adoption, and extending reach globally
- Influence defense program outcomes by embedding Synopsys solutions into mission-critical workflows and procurement processes before decisions are locked
- Accelerate customer success by orchestrating global resources and ensuring technical activities align with both short-term wins and long-term strategic goals
- Strengthen Synopsys' position as a trusted technical partner in the defense sector, building relationships that span multiple programs and stakeholder levels
- Drive product evolution by channeling field insights, customer requirements, and competitive intelligence back to Synopsys Development and marketing teams
- Enable faster problem resolution and higher quality outcomes by coaching technical staff and ensuring tight collaboration between support, consulting, and engineering teams
- Shape how defense customers adopt and deploy engineering solutions, turning technical capabilities into measurable mission impact
What You'll Need
- BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of professional experience in an engineering software environment, or MS with 7+ years, or PhD with 4+ years
- Demonstrated experience using engineering solutions or deep knowledge of commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, or PLM software packages in real-world applications
- Strong understanding of System Engineering, Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE), and mission engineering analysis, with the ability to communicate technical activities across all physics and product lines
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Swedish
- Ability to travel domestically up to 40% of the time
- Proven ability to foster collaboration and coordinate with teams distributed across multiple global sites
- Experience in project engineering, systems engineering, application engineering, or consulting services is a plus, and 4+ years in these areas strengthens your candidacy
Who You Are
- You can walk into a technical review with systems engineers and walk out with a clear picture of what they need, not just what they asked for
- You manage multiple accounts, programs, and stakeholders without losing track of what matters most to each one, and you know when to escalate and when to solve it yourself
- You push back when a technical plan does not align with customer mission priorities or when a solution is being positioned without understanding the acquisition context
- You can explain a complex trade off to a senior executive in two sentences without losing the nuance, and you know when to go deeper and when to stay high-level
- You project urgency without creating chaos, you keep teams moving, resources aligned, and customers confident that their programs are in good hands
- You understand that trust is built over time, not in a single meeting, and you show up consistently with the technical depth and business acumen that defense customers expect from a strategic partner
