What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Managing field hardware quality for Synopsys HAV products 
  • Monitoring field quality data metrics such as RMA rates, MTBF, and product reliability.
  • Owning failure analysis of field returned hardware, maintaining SLA on FA, and ensuring accurate entry of FA information in the RMA database.
  • Analyzing RMA, Failure Analysis, and Repair data to identify trends and raise quality excursions, collaborating with engineering teams to validate resolution plans.
  • Driving containment and mitigation plans for quality alerts, troubleshooting failures from system to PCBA/mechanical component level.
  • Conducting component-level troubleshooting and repair with supply chain partners, reviewing and approving failure analysis results, and maintaining design for reliability/service guides.
  • Publishing external-facing Failure Analysis Reports and leading field hardware quality meetings with key stakeholders, including senior management and customer support teams.
  • Enhancing and scaling up FA testing and automation, deploying standardized processes at global suppliers, and managing component-level supplier FA as needed.

What You’ll Need:

  • BS/MS in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field, with 7-10 years of experience in hardware failure analysis and/or Manufacturing test engineering.
  • Strong background in PCBA design, system test, and hardware troubleshooting, including hands-on experience with test and measurement equipment (oscilloscope, Linux-based tests).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PERL, Bash, shell) and working in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with analytical tools (SEM/EDS, CSAM, destructive/non-destructive tests) and understanding of circuit board schematics/layout.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word/Excel, Salesforce, SAP, Jira, and report automation tools (MS BI/Tableau/Sisense/Crystal Reports).
  • Basic mechanical engineering knowledge and ability to lift/move up to 65lbs regularly.

The Team You’ll Be A Part Of:

You will join the Systems Design Group (SD) hardware Operations team—a dedicated group of engineers focused on delivering superior hardware quality and reliability. Together, you’ll collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, test, application, and field support teams to root cause hardware failures, optimize processes, and drive product improvement. The team’s core purpose is to ensure Synopsys emulation and prototyping systems set the industry standard for performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
