We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years working in electromagnetic simulation, not just running tools but understanding what makes a solver break down or a mesh fail to converge at 2 a.m. before a customer demo. You know HFSS inside out because you have used it to solve real problems: signal integrity nightmares on high-speed boards, antenna designs that had to work in the real world, power delivery networks that could not afford to fail.

You are equally comfortable sitting with a customer in Tokyo troubleshooting a package simulation and sitting with R&D in the U.S. translating that pain point into a feature spec that actually addresses the root cause. You do not just take requirements, you shape them. You ask the questions that clarify what the customer actually needs versus what they think they need, and you can communicate that difference clearly to engineers who have never seen the application.

You write Python to automate workflows, validate results, or build the example that proves a concept works. Working across time zones does not faze you. You know how to deliver technical work on deadline without cutting corners, and you know when to escalate before a small issue becomes a big one.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Write and refine requirement specifications for HFSS product features based on direct customer engagement and field feedback from application engineers across Asia Pacific
  • Build deep subject matter expertise in one or more domains within HFSS: SI/PI for chip-package-board, mixed-signal and RF microwave components, or antenna system design
  • Collaborate directly with the regional field application engineering team in Japan and across APAC to gather, clarify, and prioritize customer requirements that feed the product roadmap
  • Develop training content, example workflows, and technical documentation that help field application engineers ramp faster and support customers more effectively
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to peers and field teams when they hit complex simulation challenges or edge cases
  • Use Python to automate simulation workflows, validate feature behavior, and create reproducible test cases that support product development and customer deployments
  • Deliver technical work independently with moderate direction, proactively flagging risks or blockers before they impact timelines or quality

The Impact You Will Have

  • Your requirement specs will directly shape HFSS features that thousands of engineers use to design chips, packages, boards, and antenna systems worldwide
  • Field teams will ramp faster and close customer issues more effectively because of the training materials and technical guidance you create
  • Customers in Japan and across APAC will see their workflows improve because you translated their real-world problems into features the product team could build
  • Product development cycles will tighten because you catch ambiguity or misalignment early, before engineering effort is wasted
  • The quality bar for HFSS will rise because you bring a field perspective into R&D and ensure features work in practice, not just in theory
  • Cross-functional collaboration between R&D and field engineering will strengthen because you speak both languages fluently
  • Complex simulation problems that used to stall projects will get resolved faster because you provide expert-level troubleshooting and technical support when it counts

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8-10 years of experience, Master's with 6-8 years, or PhD with 3-6 years
  • Hands-on experience using HFSS to solve real electromagnetic simulation problems in production or customer-facing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to solve hard technical problems and contribute meaningfully to engineering projects or product development efforts
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or workflow development
  • Strong technical communication skills in both Japanese and English, you will work with customers and internal teams across Japan, APAC, and the U.S.
  • Experience in SI/PI for chip, package, or board applications, mixed-signal or RF microwave component design, or antenna system simulation is a strong plus
  • Prior work contributing to commercial product development, feature planning, or customer requirement gathering is highly valued

Who You Are

  • You can take a messy customer problem, ask the right clarifying questions, and walk away with a clean requirement spec that R&D can actually build from
  • You work independently and deliver on time without needing constant check-ins, but you know when to pull in help or flag a risk before it becomes a crisis
  • You can explain a complex electromagnetic phenomenon or simulation tradeoff to a field engineer or customer in terms they understand, without losing the technical nuance
  • You are comfortable context-switching between deep technical work, writing documentation, supporting a field escalation, and joining a planning call with product management, all in the same day
  • You collaborate naturally across teams and geographies, and you do not let time zone differences or language barriers slow you down
  • You care about the details: your simulation setups are clean, your documentation is clear, and your code is something someone else can actually use six months later
