We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You bring deep expertise in high-performance computing and computational physics, translating complex physical models into production-grade, GPU-accelerated software. You contributed to scalable systems across distributed GPU clusters, with strong understanding of memory hierarchies and robust, trusted code for critical applications.

Your work will accelerate simulations, and enable more confident decisions in semiconductor fabrication. At Synopsys, you will develop TCAD simulation engines used globally—directly shaping how next-generation semiconductor technologies are designed and brought to life.

What You'll Be Doing

Design and implement GPU optimized algorithms and data structures for nano scale process simulation.

Profile, benchmark, and tune kernels across memory hierarchies to achieve state of the art throughput and scalability.

The Impact You Will Have

Accelerate semiconductor process development cycles at top-tier foundries by delivering order-of-magnitude simulation speedups through GPU optimization

Influence real fabrication decisions at leading manufacturers by providing faster, more accurate simulation results

Drive adoption of GPU-accelerated workflows across the semiconductor industry, setting new performance benchmarks for manufacturing simulation

What You'll Need

PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics with 4+ years industry experience

Strong modern C++, CUDA, MPI and numerical methods with hands-on experience in HPC or GPU programming

Background in computational physics, 3D geometry, or scientific code optimization

Proven ability to architect and lead large-scale systems and deliver multi-year technical roadmaps

Experience with direct-simulation Monte Carlo or other particle-based methods is a plus

Multiphysics, plasma, or semiconductor process simulation experience is valued

Experience with platforms such as NVIDIA Omniverse, container runtime, NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo, or Apollo is a plus

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join the TCAD team in Zurich, working on GPU-accelerated simulation engines that power semiconductor manufacturing R&D at leading foundries and research labs worldwide. The team operates at the intersection of applied physics, numerical methods, and high-performance computing, building tools that directly influence how next-generation chips are fabricated.
