What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Apply advanced optical engineering expertise to provide pre-sale and technical support to customers, ensuring timely resolution of complex optical simulation challenges.
  • Own customer technical problems and proactively engage with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to deliver comprehensive optical simulation solutions for automotive lighting, imaging optics, and sensor systems.
  • Work closely with sales teams by interacting with customers to understand their challenges, formulate simulation workflows, and clearly articulate the value proposition of Synopsys optical simulation solutions.
  • Support technical pre-sales activities including product demonstrations, proof-of-concept studies, and technical evaluations related to optical simulation workflows.
  • Deliver customer training sessions, workshops, and professional services engagements related to optical simulation, automotive lighting design, and virtual prototyping.
  • Collaborate with internal product development teams by gathering customer requirements and translating them into product improvement recommendations.
  • Test new software releases using real-world industry use cases and participate in internal initiatives to share domain knowledge and develop best practices.
  • Scope and deliver professional services for projects, which may include collaborative work with other field engineers in various disciplines.

What You’ll Need:

  • MS in Physics, Optics, Photonics, Optomechanical Engineering, Optoelectronics, or related field (Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or related discipline also acceptable).
  • 3–8 years of professional experience in optical engineering, optical simulation, or automotive lighting development.
  • Hands-on experience with optical simulation tools such as Speos, Zemax OpticStudio, or Lumerical.
  • Strong understanding of non-imaging optics, illumination engineering, and imaging optics principles.
  • Experience in automotive lighting system design, including headlamps, tail lamps, DRL, or signal lighting.
  • Ability to interpret optical performance metrics such as luminance, illuminance, beam patterns, and lighting regulations.
  • Experience with optical tolerancing, stray light analysis, and optical system optimization techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to conduct presentations, demos, and technical workshops.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams across geographies.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings and technical engagements.
  • Experience with automation or scripting for simulation workflows is a plus.
