Senior/Staff Applications Engineer, Power/Signal Integrity/EMIR
Note : This job is likely to move to Hyderabad location. Please apply only if you are willing to relocate to Hyderabad.
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent the last few years deep in the trenches of chip design, close enough to power integrity issues and signal integrity failures to know that the difference between a chip that tapes out and one that spins again usually comes down to someone catching the right detail at the right time. That someone has often been you. You understand that when a customer calls with an EM violation at 3nm, they are not looking for a lecture on theory. They need a path forward, and you know how to find it.
Working across foundries, IP providers, and semiconductor companies has taught you that every design is a negotiation between performance, power, and reliability. You have learned to read between the lines of a customer's question, to figure out what they are actually trying to solve, not just what they are asking. TCL and Python are not just tools you use, they are how you automate the repetitive so you can focus on the hard problems.
You do not need to be the loudest person in the room, but when you speak up, people listen because you have done the work. At Synopsys, you will work on real chips, with real constraints, alongside a team that values depth over noise.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deploy Synopsys sign-off solutions at top semiconductor companies, IP providers, and foundries working on 5nm, 3nm, and 2nm designs facing power integrity, signal integrity, EM/ESD/thermal reliability, and advanced timing challenges
- Collaborate directly with software developers, architects, and product specialists to shape and refine EDA tools built on the Seascape platform, the industry's first true big-data design platform
- Provide technical consultation to global customers, diagnosing design issues and recommending solutions thatactually closetiming, power, or reliability problems
- Script workflows in TCL and Python to automate analysis, streamline customer deployments, and accelerate debug cycles
- Document technical findings, create application notes, and present results to internal teams and customers to drive adoption and best practices
- Participate in customer engagements that range from early design exploration tolate-stagetapeoutsupport, adapting your approach to where the customer is in their flow
- Travel occasionally to customer sites or internal meetings when hands-on collaboration makes the difference
The Impact You Will Have
- Enable customers to tape out complex SoCs and 3DICs at advanced nodes by solving power, signal, and reliability issues that would otherwise cause delays
- Influence the roadmap and usability of Synopsys sign-off tools by feeding real customer pain points back to R&D and product teams
- Accelerate customer time-to-results by delivering automation scripts and methodologies that turn multi-day analyses into hours
- Build trust with leading semiconductor companies and foundries, becoming the engineer they call when a critical issue blockstape out
- Shape how next-generation chips handle power delivery, signal routing, and thermal management in an era where every milliwatt and picosecond counts
- Contribute to the success of products that power AI, automotive, mobile, and high-performance computing applications used by millions
- Strengthen the feedback loop between field experience and product development, ensuring Synopsys tools solve the problems customers actually face
What You'll Need
- 4 to 8 years of hands-on experience in power integrity, signal integrity, or reliability closure for semiconductor designs
- Bachelor's or Master'sdegree in Electronics Engineering, VLSI, or a closely related field
- Proficiency in TCL and Python for scripting, automation, and workflow development
- Strong problem-solving ability, the kind that shows up when a customer's design does not behave the way the models predicted and you have to figure out why
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, you can explain a technical trade-off to a customer or write up a finding that an engineer in another time zone can act on
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer meetings, training, or internal collaboration when it adds value
- Experience with advanced node design challenges at 7nm or below is a strong plus
Who You Are
- You can walk into a customer meeting, listen to a vague description of a signal integrity issue, and ask the three questions that get to the actual root cause
- You are comfortable working across time zones and cultures, adjusting your communication style without losing technical clarity
- When a script you wrote saves a customer two days of manual work, that matters to you more than whether anyone outside the team notices
- You do not wait for perfect information to start solving a problem, you work with what you have, validate assumptions as you go, and course-correct when needed
- You know the difference between a workaround that gets a customer unstuck today and a solution that scales across their entire design flow, and you push for the latter when it is the right call
- You are the kind of person who reads release notes, tries new features, and shows up to team meetings with opinions on what works and what does not
The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join the Applications Engineering team focused on customer success. This team works closely with R&D and product teams to ensure that Synopsys sign-off solutions meet real-world design challenges. The work is collaborative, technical, and directly tied to helping customers ship chips that matter.
Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
At Synopsys, we want talented people of every background to feel valued and supported to do their best work. Synopsys considers all applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, military veteran status, or disability.
