We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
In this role, the Senior Application Engineer will join the AGI IT Application team and will be responsible for maintaining and improving AGI’s Application Services, including daily monitoring, support configuration and maintenance of enterprise-wide applications. In addition, this role will be working with the Infrastructure and Operation Teams to support new projects and architecture upgrades to help enhance the IT environment (including automation via scripts). This individual is expected to operate at a senior level and own the areas listed below, which includes being able to clearly present and communicate solutions, applications architecture, security compliance, and access entitlement for their area of responsibility.
You Are
You have spent years keeping enterprise applications running, not just functional but actually reliable, the kind of reliable where teams trust the systems you maintain and you know exactly why that trust matters. You understand that the real work is not the initial install, it is the monitoring, the patching, the 3 a.m. troubleshooting when a production environment hiccups, and the documentation you write so the next person does not have to reverse-engineer your decisions.
You are comfortable in PowerShell, Active Directory, and cloud environments, and you know when to escalate to a vendor and when to dig in yourself. You think in systems, not silos. When a ticket comes in, you see patterns, not just problems. You can walk into a room of stakeholders, explain what broke and why, and present a fix that makes sense to both the technical team and the business owner who just wants their application back.
You do not need someone to tell you what to own. You see a gap in documentation or a recurring issue in ServiceNow, and you fix it. At Synopsys, you will work on applications that support a global engineering organization, and the systems you maintain will matter every single day.
What You'll Be Doing
•Create and maintain production environments for enterprise-wide applications, including server and desktop specifications, client software packaging, server software installations, integrations and customizations; schedule work with vendors; perform installations or upgrades, final testing and health monitoring after installation or upgrade.
•Monitor the health of enterprise-wide applications, including error logs, server performance, and memory and processor usage.
•Resolve and respond to Help Desk tickets related to enterprise-wide applications, plus all other applications as needed; note trends; perform troubleshooting; perform problem management, including escalating to other teams and to vendors as needed.
•Assist Operations in keeping current on patches and releases related to enterprise-wide applications; review release notes; track resolutions to existing software problems; recommend updates to install.
•Assist with the testing of new software or new versions of software. Create and maintain test environments for enterprise-wide applications, including server specifications and software installations, integrations and customizations.
•Development and script new requirements as code changes and execution of the code changes to the application system.
•Support IT application level 3 support / triage and maintenance where necessary.
•Ensure proper uniformity, documentation, and configuration control of technology platforms, processes and projects.
•Serve as a leader for new enterprise-wide applications or updates to existing applications; serve as a project member on projects to which you are assigned that are run by another team member or manager.
•Function as a back-up for all other applications that may be primarily supported and maintained by others on the Applications team.
•Assist, teach and mentor Applications Analysts and Engineers on the team.
•Other related job duties, as assigned.
