Technical Project Manager (Aerospace & Defense)
The preferred location of this role is Exton, PA or Canonsburg, PA, and we are also open to remote candidates located in the US.

You Are:

You have experience in project capture, proposal and contract management, and understand the unique requirements of government initiatives. You mentor others, champion process improvement, and are comfortable with Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Your organizational skills, urgency, and attention to detail set you apart. You thrive in autonomous, fast-paced settings and are motivated to play a pivotal role in mission-critical government projects.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Guide complex customer services to successful outcomes using your programmanagement expertise, planning, negotiation skills, and industry knowledge.
- Serve as a key partner to the Sales and ACE (Engineering) teams, helping to drive and secure consulting opportunities, including collaborating with sales to develop effective program management strategies.
- Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, requirements, and deliverables for enterprise software simulation solutions.
- Develop and manage project plans, track resource allocations, timelines, and deliverables across multiple interconnected workstreams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, account management, and engineering, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
- Identify and manage project risks, escalate issues, and provide guidance on advanced technical solution planning.
- Mentor junior project managers, participate in corporate initiatives, and contribute to the development of project management standards and processes.
- Oversee service partners and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project goals and customer requirements.
- Deliver status presentations for customers and executives, articulating project progress, challenges, and value propositions.
The Impact You Will Have:
- Ensure successful deployment and adoption of Ansys’ software solutions within the U.S. Space Force and federal aerospace & defense sectors.
- Build and strengthen customer relationships as a trusted advisor and central collaboration point between customers, account management, and engineering teams.
- Drive growth by securing and delivering high-value consulting projects.
- Advance the capabilities of the Professional Services team through leadership, mentoring, and process improvement.
- Meet customer requirements on time and within budget, increasing satisfaction and loyalty.
- Contribute to continuous innovation in Ansys’ technology, processes, and people through participation in strategic corporate initiatives.
- Support national-impact, mission-critical projects for federal customers.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing across geographically diverse teams.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field (BS+6, MS+4, or PhD+2 years' experience minimum).
- Proven project management experience with multiple workstreams, especially in software solutions.
- Experience in engineering, software development, or product development environments, preferably with federal aerospace & defense customers.
- Demonstrated skills in project capture, proposal management, and contract management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and modern project management tools (Microsoft Project, JIRA, Monday, ADO, etc.).
- Strong stakeholder management, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to lead customer-facing presentations.
- Experience with both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies; certifications such as PMP, Prince2 Practitioner, CSM, or PSM are a plus.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 25% and to work autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Background in federal aerospace and defense with the ability to hold a security clearance is highly preferred.

This group is dedicated to developing, integrating, and automating simulation software solutions for the aerospace and defense sector. The team is highly collaborative, cross-functional, and passionate about delivering mission-critical technologies that empower customers to solve complex challenges. You’ll work alongside engineers, product managers, QA specialists, and technical leads, all committed to innovation, quality, and customer success.
