As part of Synopsys, AGI (Ansys Government Initiatives) brings decades of expertise in digital mission engineering. AGI’s flagship product, Systems Tool Kit (STK), is trusted by aerospace, defense, and government organizations worldwide to model, analyze, and visualize complex systems and missions. By combining AGI’s deep domain knowledge with Synopsys’ scale and innovation, we empower our customers to design and test missions in a digital environment—accelerating discovery and reducing risk from concept through operations.

You Are

You’ve led software developers through the ins and outs of complex product cycles, and you know that real leadership means growing people—not just managing projects. You’ve spent years in the software world, but your expertise goes deeper: you understand RF communications, radar, or sensor operations, and you can guide others through the technical and the tactical. You get satisfaction from helping teams build things that matter, and you’re comfortable balancing technical depth with big-picture planning. When roadblocks pop up—tight schedules, shifting scope, quality concerns—you’re the one who sees them coming and takes action early. You’re organized, communicative, and invested in your team’s careers as much as your product’s success.

This position requires compliance with U.S. government security and/or access requirements. As a result, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this position.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading a capability development team responsible for RF communications and radar modeling features in STK
  • Providing direct personnel supervision, including 1-on-1 coaching, career guidance, and performance appraisals
  • Managing hiring needs and fostering individual and team growth
  • Owning the release cycle for your team’s deliverables, ensuring timely, high-quality releases with agreed feature sets
  • Working closely with Product Management and Technical Leads to define and implement product roadmaps
  • Collaborating with Quality Assurance and Documentation teams to meet quality standards and ensure clear, effective documentation
  • Enforcing software development best practices—coding standards, peer reviews, branching strategies, and unit testing

The Impact You Will Have

  • Accelerating the development of advanced communications and radar modeling tools used in mission-critical systems
  • Building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team that grows in capability and cohesion under your guidance
  • Removing obstacles before they become blockers, ensuring projects stay on track and deliver value on schedule
  • Directly influencing the technical direction and quality of STK, a flagship Synopsys product
  • Enabling cross-functional collaboration that improves both product outcomes and the developer experience
  • Raising the bar for software engineering rigor and process within the DME business unit
  • Supporting the careers and development of engineers who will shape the next generation of modeling technologies

What You’ll Need

  • BS in Engineering, Science, or Computer Science with at least 8 years of experience; MS with 6 years; or PhD with 4 years
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing software development teams
  • Strong communication skills—comfortable coaching, giving feedback, and collaborating across functions
  • Solid understanding of the software development life cycle and best practices
  • Technical expertise in RF communications technology, radar, or sensor operations
  • Experience with STK, scripting/programming (especially C++), or integrating AI/ML into applications is a plus
  • Familiarity with large-scale commercial software development and cross-functional product teams is beneficial

Who You Are

  • You lead by example and invest in your team’s growth as much as your product’s success
  • You spot and solve roadblocks early, keeping projects moving and teams motivated
  • You can explain complex technical topics in clear, practical terms—up, down, and across the org chart
  • You’re decisive but collaborative—comfortable making calls but always seeking input from those closest to the work
  • You hold yourself and your team to high standards for quality, process, and delivery
  • You’re energized by building not just products, but a culture of technical excellence and professional development

The Team You’ll Be Part Of

You’ll join the Digital Mission Engineering (DME) Product Development Business Unit, leading the Communications and Radar team responsible for advancing the RF communications and radar modeling capabilities in STK. The group includes both subject matter experts and developers, and you’ll work closely with Product Management, Technical Leads, Quality Assurance, and Documentation teams to deliver features that matter.
