R&D Engineer II
Summary / Role Purpose
The electronics business unit (EBU) is seeking an R&D engineer to contribute to the development of our meshing technology for the discretization of simulation models for our flagship products such as Ansys HFSS. The successful candidate will be part of a team which is responsible for research, design, evaluation and implementation of meshing algorithms to meet the ever-increasing complexity of simulation models. This position requires solid programming experience and background knowledge in mesh generation, computational geometry and numerical methods. The successful candidate can expect to participate in all stages of product development and to work closely with other team members in the business unit to understand customer requirements and deliver development objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in software development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of meshing modules
- Participate in defect verification and resolution process, working with QA or product support team to ensure solution meets the expected results
- Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
- Works under the general supervision of a development manager
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
- BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS
- Working experience with unstructured mesh generation algorithms for finite-element/control-volume solvers, CAD systems, CAD topology and geometry basics
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Technical knowledge and experience with C++, object-oriented design concepts, and GUI toolkits such as OpenGL, QT or MFC
- Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
