We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have built production software systems over many years, the kind that engineers rely on daily, not prototypes that look good in demos. Full stack development is second nature to you: you design Python backends, build Angular frontends, and understand exactly where the boundaries should be and why they matter. When requirements are incomplete, you ask the right questions, create a workable design, and begin implementation while others are still organizing meetings.

Software architecture is central to how you work. You recognize that the difference between a system that scales and one that fails under load often comes down to decisions made months earlier. You have made those decisions, seen the outcomes, and understand what truly matters. You are experienced in C# and .NET environments and pragmatic about tooling.

You bring strong technical judgment to design discussions. You know when to push back on an approach that will not hold up in production, and you do so in a way that strengthens the outcome. You write clear, maintainable code that other engineers can work with long after you have moved on to the next challenge.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, develop, and own full stack features for one of our platforms using Angular, Python, and .NET C#
  • Architect software frameworks and subsystems that balance performance, maintainability, and long-term scalability across a complex product ecosystem
  • Build and integrate backend services in Python and C#, connecting simulation workflows to modern web-based frontends
  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and architects to translate product requirements into technical designs that actually work
  • Write code that ships, test it, debug it, and support it through deployment and production use
  • Drive technical decisions on tooling, architecture, and design patterns that affect how the team builds software for years to come
  • Solve hard problems in a codebase that matters, where your decisions directly impact how engineers across industries do their work

The Impact You Will Have

  • You will shape the architecture and technical direction of a platform used by engineers worldwide to design and simulate complex systems
  • You will reduce technical debt and increase developer velocity by building frameworks that make the right thing the easy thing
  • Your code will enable faster, more reliable simulation workflows that help customers bring products to market sooner
  • You will mentor engineers on the team through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural discussions that raise the bar for everyone
  • You will help Synopsys integrate AI-driven capabilities into simulation platforms, positioning the company at the forefront of the industry
  • You will contribute to a product that powers innovation across automotive, aerospace, electronics, and other industries that depend on simulation to build the future

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience building production systems
  • Strong proficiency in C# and .NET for backend and application development
  • Solid experience with Python for scripting, automation, and backend services
  • Proven experience with Angular for building modern web frontends
  • Demonstrated ability to architect software frameworks and make design decisions that hold up under real-world use
  • Experience with React is a strong plus and shows breadth in frontend frameworks
  • Awareness of Agentic Experience (AX) and integration of front end and AI workflows is a plus

Who You Are

  • You can walk into a room with incomplete requirements, ask three good questions, and walk out with a design that the team can actually build
  • You push back when a design does not make sense, and you do it in a way that moves the conversation forward instead of sideways
  • You write code that other engineers can read, maintain, and extend without hunting you down six months later
  • You have worked on teams where collaboration matters, and you know the difference between being right and being helpful
  • You are comfortable working in Waterloo with a co-located team, showing up in person to solve problems together
  • You have experience or interest in AI and machine learning applications in software, and you see where that technology is heading

The Team You'll Be Part Of

The team is co-located and collaborative, working together in person to solve hard technical problems. This is a team that values strong design, clean code, and shipping software that works. You will work alongside other senior engineers, leads, and principals who care deeply about the craft and the product.
