About the Job:

The preferred location of this role is Canonsburg, PA, and we are also open to Raleigh, NC or Austin, TX

We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent the last few years building security controls that actually hold up in production, not just in a slide deck. You know that cloud security is not just IAM policies, endpoint security is not just antivirus, and email security is not just spam filters. The real work is in how those pieces connect, where the gaps live, and what breaks when someone deploys something new on a Tuesday afternoon.

You are comfortable working across domains. One day you are tuning cloud security policies, the next you are helping an engineering team understand why their container deployment needs a different approach, and the day after that you are testing endpoint controls to see if they actually catch what they are supposed to catch. You do not need to be the expert in every tool, but you know how to learn fast, ask the right questions, and ship something that reduces risk without grinding work to a halt.

AI security is new territory for a lot of people, and you are genuinely curious about it. Maybe you have played with model security, thought about training data risks, or just read enough to know this is not the same as traditional app security. You do not need all the answers yet, but you want to be in the room figuring it out.

At Synopsys, you will work on a small, focused team of about seven engineers where your work on cloud, email, and endpoint security directly shapes how the company secures both enterprise infrastructure and emerging AI systems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, implement, test, and operate security controls across cloud platforms, email security systems, and endpoint infrastructure
  • Build security automation, tooling, and metrics that give the team visibility into what is actually happening and where the risk lives
  • Partner with AI and ML engineering teams to support secure development, deployment, and operation of AI systems across the company
  • Contribute to building AI Security Posture Management capabilities, including visibility into AI model usage and data flows, risk assessment of AI pipelines and inference endpoints, and enforcement of security and compliance controls for AI workloads
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and infrastructure teams to embed security into solutions early, before they become production problems
  • Support risk, compliance, and governance initiatives across both enterprise and AI security domains, translating requirements into actionable engineering work
  • Participate in security reviews and consulting engagements, providing clear recommendations that teams can actually use

The Impact You Will Have

  • Improve Synopsys' security posture across cloud, email, and endpoint environments that support 30,000 employees and critical product development workflows
  • Enable secure adoption of AI capabilities by embedding security into design and deployment, not bolting it on after the fact
  • Increase operational efficiency through automation and better security metrics that help a lean team focus on what matters most
  • Support compliance with applicable security regulations and standards across a global engineering organization
  • Help scale security practices through documentation, tooling, and cross-team collaboration that makes security easier to do right
  • Reduce risk in real time by catching security gaps before they become incidents
  • Build capabilities that will define how Synopsys secures AI workloads for years to come

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
  • 2 to 7 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure or enterprise security engineering
  • Practical experience in at least several of the following domains: cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), email security platforms, endpoint security tools, network security, or SASE platforms
  • Solid understanding of security architecture and engineering fundamentals, including how to design controls that balance risk and usability
  • Experience with security automation, scripting, or building tooling to improve visibility and efficiency
  • Exposure to or strong interest in AI and ML security, including areas such as model security, data protection, AI Security Posture Management, or securing AI pipelines. Deep expertise is not required, but curiosity and willingness to learn are
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar standards

Who You Are

  • You can explain a complex security tradeoff to an engineering lead in two sentences without losing the nuance or sounding condescending
  • You are pragmatic and solution-oriented. You know the difference between a risk that needs to be fixed today and one that can wait, and you can articulate why
  • You work well on a small team where everyone contributes across multiple domains and there is no room for narrow specialization
  • You are curious and motivated to learn, especially in emerging areas like AI security where the playbook is still being written
  • You are willing to challenge assumptions and advocate for solid security practices, even when it is easier to say yes
  • You stay organized when managing multiple workstreams and can keep stakeholders informed without constant follow-up

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join the Infrastructure Security Engineering team, a focused group of about seven engineers who combine cloud and cybersecurity functions. The team implements, tests, and operates security controls across cloud, email, and endpoint security domains, partnering closely with engineering and product groups to enable secure innovation.
