At Synopsys, we are at the forefront of the technological innovations that are transforming our world—self-driving cars, Artificial Intelligence, the cloud, 5G, and the Internet of Things. These breakthroughs are ushering in the Era of Smart Everything. If you share our passion for innovation, we want to meet you.

Our System Solutions team is pivotal in enabling our customers with end-to-end SOC designs in advanced technologies. We deliver comprehensive tool flows, provide expertise in design methodology creation and implementation, and offer customer-specific design assistance. From RTL-to-GDSII implementation for blocks, sub-systems, and full SOCs, to executing full turnkey SOC designs from specification-to-parts, our team is indispensable to our customers—ranging from start-ups to industry leaders, commercial entities, and government agencies.

Our customers develop products for high-performance computing, automotive, aerospace & defense, and more. As a Senior SOC Architect, you will drive the development of SOCs, including hands-on work and providing technical leadership and guidance to internal or third-party SOC development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive SOC development from architecture to post-silicon.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams of micro-architects/RTL developers.
  • Engage in direct customer interactions, offering solutions and addressing their specific needs.
  • Manage full SOC development from micro-architecture through GDS, collaborating with partners on SW/FW and packaged parts full solutions.
  • Travel occasionally for short periods and work on-site at customer premises as required.

Key Qualifications:

  • BSEE/MSEE/Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in SOC-level architecture and RTL development.
  • Proficient in SOC system architecture with experience in high-level or micro-architecture development, RTL development, design verification, DFT, physical design, and tapeout management.
  • Knowledgeable in high-performance computing architectures in mobile, data center, client/server, automotive, and edge computing SOCs.
  • Exceptional understanding of various interconnect options like Arteris NOC, AMBA AXI, CXL, and other similar technologies.
  • Implementation knowledge of SOC level features like AVFS, low power management, and other power architecture-related features.
  • Solid knowledge of HW/FW/SW interdependencies.
  • Familiarity with SOC standard interfaces including PCIe, DDR, HBM, MIPI CSI/DSI, SPI, I2C, etc.
  • Implementation knowledge of CPU architectures such as RISCV, ARC, X86, or ARM cores.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and work on-site at customer premises as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Multiple tapeouts in advanced nodes such as 16-/14-/10-/7-nm.
  • Managed a global team.
  • Direct customer interaction experience.
  • Experience in designing SOC from architecture to post-silicon.
  • Experience working in a customer-centric environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to small teams.
  • Cross-functional management of full SOC development from micro-architecture through GDS.
  • Experience using workflow tools like git/gitlab/github.
  • Ability to obtain government security clearances for government contract assignments.
