We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You know that power integrity decides whether a chip works or fails. IR drop and electromigration are not abstract concepts to you, they are the difference between shipping on time and a six-month respin. You run simulations in Voltus or RedHawk, read SPEF files, and write Python scripts when the data gets too messy. You find the hotspot, debug it, and fix it. At Synopsys, the analysis you do will directly affect whether real chips meet their power and reliability targets.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Run static and dynamic IR drop simulations at block and full-chip levels
  • Perform electromigration and IR drop verification, identify violations, propose fixes
  • Optimize power grid design to meet voltage drop and reliability targets
  • Debug IR drop hotspots and EM violations using Synopsys XA, Cadence Voltus, or Ansys RedHawk
  • Build Python, Tcl, or Perl scripts to automate EMIR flows and generate reports
  • Collaborate with physical design, circuit design, and packaging teams on PDN improvements
  • Participate in design reviews and improve PI/EMIR signoff methodologies

The Impact You Will Have

  • Catch power integrity issues before tapeout and prevent costly respins
  • Reduce EMIR turnaround time through automation and better workflows
  • Improve chip reliability by eliminating EM risks and voltage violations
  • Shape power grid decisions early in the design cycle when changes are feasible
  • Give leadership clear visibility into power integrity status and risks

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Microelectronics
  • Understanding of CMOS technology, VLSI design flow, and power delivery networks
  • Familiarity with Synopsys (HSPICE, XA), Cadence (Voltus), or Ansys (RedHawk, Totem)
  • Knowledge of physical design concepts: floorplan, routing, metal stack, RC extraction
  • Scripting skills in Python, Tcl, or similar languages
  • Ability to work with large datasets (CSV, logs) and visualization tools

Who You Are

  • You look at an IR drop map and quickly identify the root cause
  • You write scripts other engineers can use, not just throwaway code
  • You translate between physical design and circuit design without losing the technical thread
  • You start analysis with incomplete data and flag assumptions clearly
  • You escalate issues with data, not just complaints

At Synopsys, we want talented people of every background to feel valued and supported to do their best work. Synopsys considers all applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, military veteran status, or disability.
