You Are:
You are a passionate and analytical R&D engineer who thrives at the intersection of AI/ML and 3D discrete geometry processing. With a strong foundation in computer graphics, computational geometry, or mathematics, you are ready to tackle complex problems in simulation model creation and discretization. Your expertise in AI/ML for geometry processing allows you to see creative solutions where others see barriers. Key is knowledge and experience of developing AI/ML for model understanding which includes shape classification, feature identification, combined with functional and semantic understanding to allow for machine reasoning, e.g. to identify model simplification based on analysis intent. We expect that VLMs with embedded 3D geometry data will play a crucial part and prior experience will be advantageous. You value teamwork, continuous learning, and are proactive in sharing ideas and best practices to elevate your peers. You have a track record of delivering high-quality research and code, and you enjoy seeing your work have a tangible impact on advanced engineering workflows. Your communication skills allow you to clearly explain technical concepts to both domain experts and non-specialists, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration. You are excited to be part of a forward-thinking team that is shaping the future of simulation through AI-powered automation.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Research, design, and implement advanced AI/ML algorithms for 3D geometry processing to automate simulation workflows.
- Develop methods for shape classification, feature identification, and semantic model understanding to enable machine reasoning.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate novel solutions into existing meshing and simulation software.
- Leverage and contribute to VLMs (Vision-Language Models) with embedded 3D geometry data for enhanced model analysis.
- Participate in all stages of the product lifecycle, including code planning, prototyping, development, testing, and evolution.
- Engage in peer code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions to drive continuous improvement.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, geometry processing, and computational mathematics to drive innovation.
The Impact You Will Have:
- Accelerate the automation of simulation model creation, reducing manual effort and enabling the simulation of more complex designs and load-cases.
- Enhance the accuracy and efficiency of shape classification and feature identification within 3D models.
- Enable advanced semantic understanding and reasoning within simulation workflows, unlocking new capabilities for engineering teams.
- Drive the adoption of AI/ML technologies in simulation, setting new standards for scalability and performance.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Synopsys’ meshing and simulation tools, directly impacting product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Mentor and inspire peers through technical leadership, knowledge sharing, and fostering a culture of innovation.
What You’ll Need:
- BS in Engineering, Computer Graphics, Computational Geometry, Mathematics, or related field with 5+ years’ experience, MS degree with 3+ years of experience, or PhD with 1+ year of experience.
- PhD with Postdoctoral experience preferred
- Expertise in AI/ML techniques as applied to 3D geometry processing.
- Solid understanding of geometry processing concepts and algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for research prototyping and production development.
- Experience with VLMs or similar models incorporating 3D geometry data is a strong plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
Who You Are:
- Innovative thinker with a deep curiosity for emerging technologies and research.
- Excellent communicator, able to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Collaborative team player who thrives in multidisciplinary environments.
- Resilient and adaptable, with a demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and deliver results.
- Committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
The Team You’ll Be A Part Of:
You’ll join a dynamic and forward-thinking R&D team focused on advancing AI/ML-driven solutions for 3D geometry processing. The team is responsible for research, design, and implementation of cutting-edge technologies that power Synopsys’ simulation and meshing tools. Collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a drive for technical excellence are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll work closely with experts in AI, software development, and simulation to create tools that enable engineers worldwide to solve their most challenging problems.
